Inspired Condo in Kalorama

Washington, DC

ARCHITECT: MANION & ASSOCIATES
CONTRACTOR: SQUARE ONE
PHOTOGRAPHY: ERIK KVALSVIK

This 1920’s limestone building was completely gutted and all systems updated.  The design process started with the respect and admiration that the client has for the Saarinen House at Cranbrook.  The rooms were reimagined and spaces aligned to create interior architectural detail without any of the beams and mechanical showing.  The spaces unfold as you enter the foyer and curved ceilings and doorways create an enfilade of space to pass through.  The home works equally as well for the two of them at home or a cocktail party for 60.  Cove lighting, gracious millwork, and detail in all appointments create a welcoming atmosphere.
